Fish Haul Beach Park

Beaches in North End, Hilton Head Island, SC

North End

Fish Haul Beach Park is one of Hilton Head Island's most historically significant and naturally beautiful public beach access points, located on the north end of the island near the Mitchelville Freedom Park. The beach takes its name from the Gullah Geechee tradition of hauling in fishing nets along this stretch of shoreline, and it remains a place of deep cultural importance to the island's African American community. The park offers free parking, restrooms, and a short boardwalk trail through maritime forest to the beach. The north-end location means fewer crowds and a more secluded, natural atmosphere. Shelling is excellent here, and the views of the Port Royal Sound are spectacular — especially at sunrise.
